What is DELE?
Is a test created by the Instituto Cervantes and supported by the Ministry of Education, Social Policy and Sport of Spain. It is internationally recognized by public and private institutions. The Cervantes Institute is part of the Association of Language Testers in Europe –ALTE– and the review follows the rules of the Common European Framework for Languages. In the same way we follow these rules for the design of our Spanish classes.
What does DELE certify?
This Spanish exam certifies the level of competence and mastery of Spanish as a foreign language. It certifies three levels: Beginner, to understand and respond appropriately to the most common basic communication situations. Intermediate assesses the ability to communicate in everyday life situations. And Superior, assesses competence to cope in situations that require use of the more complex use of language and a cultural knowledge.
What does DELE evaluate?
DELE offers certifications at different levels:
- Beginner: reading comprehension, writing and listening skills, awareness of communication, expression and oral interaction.
- Intermediate and Advanced : Reading, writing, listening, grammar and vocabulary, oral expression.
How to prepare DELE in VOS?
The Instituto Cervantes offers guidance and materials for specific preparation for the exam. In VOS we have this material and offer a specific curriculum for the DELE exam preparation.
The methodology of school classes provides the tools needed to strengthen and deepen the various areas of the language. We create a specific plan for each student. This plan may include either an intensive Spanish course or regular course plus compulsory weekly private lessons.
How do I register to sit for the DELE?
This test is offered 3 times per year: May, August and November.

Study for the Spanish exam CELU
What is CELU?
The CELU is a test created by a consortium of universities in Argentina and endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Nation. The test is becoming increasingly international broadcasting, particularly among Brazilian universities (UNICAMP, USP, and CECIAB ICBA)
What does CELU certify?
CELU certifies general communicative competence in Spanish as a foreign language (intermediate and advanced) to function effectively in different everyday life situations.
What does CELU evaluate?
CELU is an exam oriented to language in use. It evaluates oral expression: grammar, vocabulary, interactive contextual accuracy, fluency and pronunciation; and written expression: contextual appropriateness, discourse and lexical appropriateness; listening and reading comprehension. It doesn’t present specific questions about language or grammar.
How to prepare the CELU at VOS?
As a use of language oriented test, unlike other exams like DELE, it has no specific materials for it preparation. The VOS classroom methodology provides the tools needed to strengthen and deepen the various areas of language. In individual lessons students work with models of previous exams and are introduced to a variety of communicative situations they will need to learn to solve and reinforce those aspects of language that each particular student may need -bearing in mind the different grammatical, lexical and phonological problems originating in each of the source languages.
SIELE is the International Service for Spanish Language Assessment, aimed at students and professionals, which digitally certifies Spanish language proficiency levels.
It is promoted by the Cervantes Institute, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the University of Salamanca and the University of Buenos Aires. These institutions guarantee the standards for quality and good practices in the creation of the tests and the use of diverse linguistic varieties in the Hispanic world.
SIELE certifies the degree of proficiency for the Spanish language with four tests: Reading and listening compregension, Written expression and interaction and Spoken expression and interaction; the exam also takes as a reference the levels established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
